Remembering lens zoom setting on Sony RX10

Hi fellow members. I am trying to set up my Sony RX 100 so that when I turn it on it returns to the zoom setting at which I last turned the camera off rather than having to reset it each time. I have read some reports on DP review forumS which suggest inserting the zoom setting into one of the three memory settings that the camera allows however I don't actually know how to do this specifically. Can anyone help me.?

With my RX10MIV if it “goes to sleep” and I “wake it up” it returns to the last zoom setting. If I turn it off it always starts zoomed all the way out.

From photographers guide to the Sony RX-100 IV: under the section on Memory Recall Mode, are some details of how to. There may be other ways to do it. There may be other ways. I’ll keep looking as I get time.

Yes, I use memory recall. I have my bird in flight settings in a memory position on the function dial. The zoom is set at 600mm (full optical zoom). When I turn the dial to that position and select my bird setting among the 3 offered. The lens zooms to 600 and stays there as long as I have the dial in that position. Doesn't matter if the camera goes to sleep or I power it off and on again.
