Lightroom Classic Problem

Hello All,
I have just encountered a LRC failure to download (import) images. I hit the import button on the first screen, the screen changes to the next which tells me that LRC will make a COPY and I then hit the import button on the lower right. Now this button is dark and nothing happens. I got out of LRC and back in without any change. It is the same thing each time I try. The rest of Lightroom seems to be fine. All the connections are proper and the images on the Compact Flash card are intact.
I am using Windows 10 and LRC v10.
Thanks for any help,

Have you imported successfully before with this LR installation, on this computer, with this camera card / camera model?

When you say nothing happens, what does happen? What does go out of LRC mean? You have to close the LR software and restart?

Do you happen to have a phone, especially an Android phone, connected to the same computer as where LRC resides, say charging? If yes, what happens if you close LR, remove the phone from the computer and try again?

Where do you want to copy the images? Can you just copy them to that target location using the computer OS and try an Import with 'Add' instead?

What file types are involved?

Thank you for the help,
I have used this combination many times. I have learned that LRC was just updated to 10.3 recently. Factor?
Since I cannot use the 'import' button on the Copy/Add etc. screen, nothing changes or happens.
'Go Out' means that I went to ctrl-alt-delete and chose 'close' and then reopened LRC. I did not shut down which I should probably do.
I do have an Android phone but it charges from a wall plug with an adapter.
Since I download from a memory card I use Copy to the hard drive so LRC can read them. This happens automatically. I am not sure I can use Add instead of copy. I can try. I don't think I know how to copy the images to the hard drive directly.

After rebooting, if the problem remains and you're unsure of moving the image files outside LR, open a technical support chat with Adobe. If the release is the cause of the problem, you'll need to talk to them anyway.

Here is a way to import your photo files. By the way I don't use LRC. Here goes. You have your card in your card reader. Your card reader is plugged into the PC. Double click on the card reader to open the list of photos. Now click on the first file listed. While holding down the Shift key, click on the last file on the card. This will select all the files on the card. Now hold dow the SHIFT key and hit the letter C. You now have a copy of your photos on the clipboard. Now you double click on the internal hard drive where you store your photos. On my PC it's drive D, your's might be drive C. Makes no difference. Just double click on the drive that has your photos, that shows you the contents. Now find the file in which you store your photos and double click on it to open that file. Now click somewhere toward the bottom of your file list, not on a photo, just an open spot, that will activate your storage file. Now the final step. Hold down the SHIFT key and hit the letter V. That is the paste command and you will see your photos going from your card into your storage file. When your photos are all copied close the hard drive. Lastly close the card reader and eject it. Now a note to all you guys reading this. I have to take off for the morning. I'm about a quarter as sharp, computer wise, as most of you guys. If photodoc16 has any questions, would you please jump in & help. Thanks a lot guys. Lynn

Here is a way to import your photo files. By the w... (show quote)

Shift C will give you a capital C. You need Ctrl C for copy and Ctrl V for paste.

Paul,
It has been quite a back and forth with the Lightroom Professionals at the Adobe LRC Forum. I found that I could download successfully the old way via the camera. This might implicate the card reader or cable. However, the folks at LR asked me to check settings in the import page and send them screen shots and yet no obvious answers were forthcoming. And then, as you might predict, the next attempt to download was successful!!!!????
So, for now all is good but I am no more ready to handle another problem like this than I was the first time.
Thanks for the advice.
Richard
