Bull Frog Disappearing (final) Act II

Four minutes after downing the first frog, the heron wades back in the pond and takes two running steps and snatches a second bull frog. This one was quite a swallow show! It carried this one across the narrow end of the pond to the grass on the opposite bank and washed and turned the frog several times. It actually dropped it completely to re-spear it but the frog, not quite dead, make a break for it and the heron had to re-catch it. This time it dropped and speared it several times to kill the catch. Then the dunking and turning to get the frog just right head first. This was a seven minute show--the heron pulled a frog out of the pond and made it disappear.

Nice sequence. I could use a nice plate of frog legs, myself.

Great sequence! I have seen them take 20 minutes just to maneuver a frog to go down head first!

Excellent series. Amazing how these birds can get a massive thing like that frog down its throat. Thanks for sharing.
