Welcome to the first weekend of the Challenges' Summer Calendar. Someone will start the challenge every Friday evening which ends on Sunday evening when the next weekly challenge is posted. "Family Friendly" - post left overs, something you shot during the week, maybe a project you're working on. Comment if you can but not necessary at all. Get out there and "shoot summer"!

I've found some interesting plants and insects this week. Some iris - these iris are antique bulbs. They've been on our property for more than 50 years.

Access to Trillium Lake is clear of snow but a 2 mile hike on the road until they open it. Up on the Mountain, sno-cats groom the ski area for use all summer. Regrettably they don't finish each night until well after my willingness to stay awake. Taken June 1st. 21mm lens, 16 min exposure.

Iris must be a long-lived plant, these were here when my parents bought the farm in 1960, I have no idea how long they were here before then

I took this the other day as an experiment to see how slow a shutter speed I could use and still get a decent handheld image. This was taken at 1/8 second with f/29 to compensate for the harsh midday light. It has also made me decide to get an ND filter.
