Everything that you use on a computer connects via USB cable, yet computers never have enough USB ports, and the devices are too far from the ports. The solution seems simple: the USB hub. Unfortunately, the cables on these hubs are too short. I'd like a minimum of a 6' cable on a hub. I could plug it into my computer and place the hub in a convenient location. I've tried an assortment of extension cords, and everyone loses it's connection, and I have to unplug and replug.
So, what I want is a hub with at least half a dozen USB ports (no chargers needed) and at least 6' of cable. Plugging it into 110v is fine. Better still would be a hub that does not have a USB cable attached so I can use one of any length.

Thanks! That looks good. I like the power and the separate USB cable.

Yea, if you plug too many things into one port expander without additional power (like on the computer), it probably cannot supply enough power for the (≈7) devices. I do have a passive 3-port expander I use for the keyboard & mouse. It has a short cord, which doesn't matter.

I've had this one for several years - works flawlessly.

Right. I like the ones that have their own power supply.

I noticed looking at the hubs that are linked to in posts, that the each only has 7 non- charging USB ports.
Is this the max that can be supported at one time? Or is it another reason for it?
will

Of the 7, I use maybe 3.
They must have picked a number.
Don't need 25.

I have two powered kdlinks 7 port hubs. I've been using them for 9+ years. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be available anymore. However, there are many others on the market.

try "Micro Center.com". They've got a bunch. I've got an 8 port. They're great
Right. I have lots of cables, but never exactly what I want at the time.
I'm pretty sure I have a long one like that.
