USB Hub Recommendations?

Everything that you use on a computer connects via USB cable, yet computers never have enough USB ports, and the devices are too far from the ports. The solution seems simple: the USB hub. Unfortunately, the cables on these hubs are too short. I'd like a minimum of a 6' cable on a hub. I could plug it into my computer and place the hub in a convenient location. I've tried an assortment of extension cords, and everyone loses it's connection, and I have to unplug and replug.

So, what I want is a hub with at least half a dozen USB ports (no chargers needed) and at least 6' of cable. Plugging it into 110v is fine. Better still would be a hub that does not have a USB cable attached so I can use one of any length.

Thanks! That looks good. I like the power and the separate USB cable.

Yea, if you plug too many things into one port expander without additional power (like on the computer), it probably cannot supply enough power for the (≈7) devices. I do have a passive 3-port expander I use for the keyboard & mouse. It has a short cord, which doesn't matter.

I've had this one for several years - works flawlessly. https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Port-USB-Power-Adapter/dp/B075NMVGP7/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb+3+hub+plugable&qid=1620061510&sr=8-3

Right. I like the ones that have their own power supply.

I've used this one for years.

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Charging-Individual-Switches-HB-B7C3/dp/B0797NWDCB/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1BS202VWM3QSZ&dchild=1&keywords=sabrent+usb+hub&qid=1620085140&sprefix=sabrent%2Caps%2C878&sr=8-3

The supplied USB cable is only 3 feet long, however there are longer replacements available.

6 feet. https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-USB-Black-Feet/dp/B00C7RXR72/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb+3+cable&qid=1620085091&sr=8-3

There are longer options on the page where you order the cable.

If you're going to plug in a bunch of devices, you do want a powered hub. There are limits to how much power the USB ports on a computer will put out. The hub above does have a separate power supply.

I noticed looking at the hubs that are linked to in posts, that the each only has 7 non- charging USB ports.
Is this the max that can be supported at one time? Or is it another reason for it?

will

Of the 7, I use maybe 3.

They must have picked a number.
Don't need 25.

I have two powered kdlinks 7 port hubs. I've been using them for 9+ years. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be available anymore. However, there are many others on the market.

I ordered this one. It has seven USB ports and no charging ports, a power supply, and a separate USB cable. It should be here on Thursday.

You will need a longer USB cable to meet your 6 foot specification. From the picture, I appears you need an A to B cable like this one, but I'm not sure. You might want to look at it when you get it before ordering one.

Right. I have lots of cables, but never exactly what I want at the time.

I'm pretty sure I have a long one like that.
