Selective color hasn't been on the challenge list for years, so let's give it a go. Ansel Adams selectively colored by dodging and burning bringing out the saturation of some colors and desaturating others. Most often considered a black and white image with one color as a focal point. It's possible to create the effect in Lightroom alone, any program that will do layers, photoshop and some other editing programs with a "selective color" feature. There are many articles - one by Digital Photography school on How to Use Selective Color takes you through the steps in Lightroom. Digital Blog and others (neither are sites endorsed by UHH because UHH does not endorse sites). Mr. Google can direct you to many simple tutorials using different programs.

This image was done totally in Lightroom. DUH, I didn't know it was possible and I previously exported to other programs if I wanted selective color.

So dig in, pick a simple image and show us the impact of "Selective Color".

Selective color hasn't been on the challenge list ... (show quote)

Pg 1 - I love this type of image, Pat, and you did a wonderful job!

I think you might have hosted "A Touch of Color" and year or two ago, and it was a really fun challenge, so I am really looking forward to seeing what people come up with this time.

Rather than pull any from my archives, I'll try to add more new ones later this week.
Tim

I did these a few years ago with PS-3 which won't run on my newer computer, and I can't figure out how to do it with Corel Paintshop Pro

It certainly does have a profound impact, Pat! I'll see what works for me! I'm kind of lazy when it comes to learning new tricks, I must say...but I will try! Had a heck of a time with our computer for about a week until Bill could fix it! What aggravation !
