To b&w, or not to b&w, that is the question...
I have a personal favorite between these two images, but I'd like to know... not only which one you prefer (if either!) but WHY you prefer it. Feeling, impact, hate b&w, whatever... I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions, as always... view in Download for best...

I prefer the Black and White. It has consistent tonally. In the color version the clouds become the dominant factor in the image. What is your personal preference?
Yes...
I like the color,
but the B&W has a nostalgic look.
I think if I was going to hang it I would hang the B&W...
Both good, to me six to one, half dozen to the other. IMO some photos just speak and need to be converted or not. Eye, mood, instinct? Have no idea. Still have a filter from film days when I would shoot one camera with color and a second with B&W - helpful to choose between color and value. I guess I finally figured it out in the digital era, haven't used it. I do (major heresy) on certain kinds of days and trips, set mode to Monochrome. It helps me focus on what I want. You seem to be doing just fine.

For me color hands down for this subject.
B&W just is lacking intensity.
I like the B&W the black of the sky and the lower right pine trees really frame the image while the color version does not. Also the composition of the B&W is much stronger than the color because for me the color distracts from whole composition especially the rust colored roof. Nice image and these are just my humble opinion. Peace. Richard
My personal choice of the two is the color one for the blue of the sky is reflected in the mountains.
Black and White for framing and mood. Isn’t it amazing the variety of opinions? I’m glad you posted
I think B&W for this one.
To B&W. It suits the mood of the picture and besides B&W is almost always preferable for those kind of stops
Color for me, by a whisker.
It’s a well done shot.
Color. B&W renders all stark, which wasn't the scene. Why throw out the nuances and richness of color?
B&W for me, although I usually prefer color shots. The B&W for an abandoned house sets the tone and focus on the house. The color is too cheerful for the subject of the shot.
I like the color a lot more than the black and white. The freshness of the sky and grass and the pop of the red roof are only seen in color.
