I keep getting emails that my Norton expires "TODAY".
None actually from Norton (Symantec) though.

From Rmarlarz post:

Order Delivery Address:
Roger Rhode island, New York, United States 23569

What kind of address is that?
I grew up on Long Island, NY and moved to RI
Roger Williams founded Rhode Island but nobody refers to it as Roger Rhode Island.
NY and RI are about 150 miles apart unless you consider the distance from Block Island RI to Montauk point NY which is less that 50 miles (a Jeopardy question)
The zip codes in either state do not start with 23.

They (the perpetrators) expect no one to read and understand the contents of the email.

Maybe I am dense, but I don't understand what the scammer hopes to achieve.

Simple -

They want your credit card/banking number and info.
OR - your login info to the REAL site.

I received one that stated that $499.99 for something has been billed to my account.
And if it was in error, call # to have a credit applied.

Yea, ...right. I suppose I have to give them a card number to receive the "credit".

I get that too. I haven't had Norton in years. I got a call last night that I had a warrant out for my arrest unless
I called a certain number to verify something. These creeps never give up.

The scammer may be hoping to reel you in for the purpose of gathering more and more personal information from you. They look for any possible response so they can BS their way into gaining more info.

One of the worst is the "people who work with social security".
They just want your Social number and probably your birth date.

When I get emails like this, I check my checking account online to see if there is a debit. If so, I contact the bank by phone to dispute the debit. So far I have won every dispute.

It's strictly a numbers game. Even at the cheapest bulk mailing rate it costs too much money to do something like this in the regular mail - not to mention that it's a federal crime in the US (and probably in most other countries as well) to use the mail for fraud schemes.

But with the right software it costs nothing to send out a million emails, once you've bought the mailing list. (I assume you have to buy one - are there lists out there for free?) The tease is written so that only the low intelligence cohort will think it might be the real deal and respond. A 1% response would be 10,000 suckers. Even a 1% of 1% response would be 100 REAL suckers to mine for personal data. That's after 99.99% of the emails go directly to trash.

Whenever I receive a suspicious email, I click on the sender’s email address in the original message. It usually reveals the real address despite what they claim. I use Outlook mail so I don’t know if that works in other email apps.
Also, look for misspellings. I see Bestbuy in your email. Shouldn’t it be BestBuy?

2 weeks ago I got a phishing email from someone purporting to be Chase Bank. At the bottom, it said Chase@ instead of the Marca Registrada which should be ® for Registered or © for Copyright.

Here in the US we also have a government page to send phishing & other scams which we can send to report it.
For us here in the US, I’ll try to send that later.

Right now I’d contact BestBuy to see if it’s legitimate.
