Got a notice that Quicken is going to cut off my service this month if I don't pay up. I use it to keep my banking information Anyone recommend an alternate to Quicken?

Check with your bank. They may have a way for you to access your account directly without the need for Quicken. I used to use Quicken, but now I can just login to my bank accounts without it.

Another reason not to go with a subscription.
I'm still using Quicken 2007.

As with many pieces of software and hardware (computer or camera), it all depends on your needs and wants.
There are advantages to Quicken that banking information does not have such as classification of income and expenses, reports, investments and tax information, etc. It is more than a check register. If you only need a check register, then an online bank service should be sufficient.

I'm the treasurer for a local Mac users group and have used Quicken for over a decade for that purpose. In 2020 I moved to Moneyspire which is a one-time purchase with free updates forever. I was able to import all years of Quicken and am very satisfied with Moneyspire. Check it out.

All I do is banking. Lack of a subscription would mean I can no longer download transactions from my bank and credit cards to Quicken. That feature is verrrry convenient, and I would lose it

Doesn't sound like much of a reason to use Quicken to me. You can download statements from your bank (all the banks I deal with have online ways to do most everything). Downloading the data from the bank and putting it into a spreadsheet is possible. And inexpensive.

I've never used that at all.
I enter all my transactions into Quicken manually within a day or so of creating them. Immediately when writing checks.
When I get the bank statement (download PDF) I just have to match and "clear" them in Quicken.
But my method works great for me.

At the end of the year it is nice to categorize expensed for tax purposes without manually having to enter them into a spread sheet. Thanks for the replies.

I get those reports from my stand-alone copy of Quicken. I simply enter a category when entering the transactions. (Correct categories (for me) don't come from the bank.)

First, is the email really from Quicken (Intuit)?
In the past week I've received four bogus emails from various "places" purporting that my Norton subscription has expired "today". It has not!

I review the email header information and find that the source of the email is from, Romania; or Google, or ...
The "FROM" can be spoofed.
My email clients will allow me to view the header info. For Comcast, I highlight the email, select more options, then select "view source".
Thunderbird works a little different, but the header info is still available.

Great minds think alike. Nothing but manual input here, as well. Checks and deposits are entered immediate Ditto for credit cards and other miscellaneous transactions. All accounts are reconciled when I get statements. I’ve been using Quicken for as long as it’s been around and have never used the download/sync function. Version is 2011. As long as it works, I see no reason whatsoever to update.

I believe you will still be able to download a file from your bank and import it. What will stop is the ability for Quicken to download directly from your accounts and put the transactions in the right place.
