And in one generation we have devolved to
“I don’t want a pickle, just want to ride my motorcycle “

It was a time beyond one's wildest imagination. Google "Dust Bowl" and search the images and you will see walls of dust bearing down on towns. Homes and farms buried in dust so deep that roofs are barely visible.

I was a combination of weather events and improper farming practices that caused such vast devastation as well as happening during a time of great depression. One must learn from history or be destined to repeat it.

Amazing time period. Many lives destroyed not just by the agricultural and meteorological conditions but also by the treatment the “Okies” received as they sought relief.

Curmudgeon, we still have story tellers; they are just few and far between. Going to try to attach a file for your listening pleasure. Hope it works...

The song was made popular by Trisha Yearwood, but was written by Matraca Berg. https://americansongwriter.com/matraca-berg-the-dreaming-fields/

The song was written at a time when so many farm fields in Wisconsin were being bought up and turned to subdivided neighborhoods and shopping Meccas

You can see the Youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1aGLQkUubA

I love Woody Guthrie's music, but believe this young lady can certainly hold her own with him and the other great story tellers.

Here is another of her songs "Oh, Cumberland": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXyw67KTvJg

Best wishes!

Mike
