These are awesome. I really like them both.

Thanks, and I'll share a bit of advice. Be sure that the water is warm in case you fall into it. I didn't fall although the bank and rocks were slippery but I did end up in the water up to my shins....and it was COLD. I didn't plan it that way, it just happened. Of course our friends and my Better Half through that it was quite funny.

Thanks, UTMike. I've learned a few things over the countless number of shots that I have taken and instead of a Recycle Bin...I needed a Recycle Dumpster.

One is to shoot with the lowest ISO and to open the lens up to in the range of f/5.6 or f/8. Shutter speeds will vary however about 250 second feels about right most often and I shoot in RAW.

Yes...the images will look dark and that's what I'm looking for because it holds info in the shadows and does not lose info in the lights. Once it's gone there is no getting it back.

I post I move the exposure slider and the images start to pop. Push shadows open a bit and there's the detail I'm looking for. Set the black points and the white points to their low thresholds and that's about it.
Thanks, UTMike. I've learned a few things over th... (show quote)

It also looks like you are darkening the tops and bottoms of your photos quite a bit. Sometimes possibly a little too much, but each to their own in how they feel about such a harsh vignette.

Thanks, and yes I do so for I want my eye to be drawn into the area that I find to be of interest. All of the detail that the camera captured is still there, I just don't want my eye to go where I want. Of course it's to each their own.

If I had graduated neutral density filters and set up a tripod I could accomplish the same thing although standing in the stream on slippery rocks for an old man just to get a shot was challenging enough for me.

These are beautiful and very different images Gary. The first shot is very moody and inviting. The second really pops. Did you get the shop owners to glaze the bricks for you?

Thanks, and it was the glaze of the bricks that jumped out at me. I suspect that as an Art Gallery the owner must have known that it would be an eye-catcher. Now, frankly I would rather of had a glazed donut or better yet a glazed fritter than a glazed brick.
