Nice picture!! Does anyone know how long the anchor lines are? How deep can they anchor? Inquisitive mind wants to know.
Anchors: Two anchors, port and starboard bow, each weighing 30,000 pounds. Each anchor chain is 12 shots or 1,080 feet long and each link weighs about 120 pounds. Armor: The main armor belt of the hull is 12.1″ tapering 19 degrees vertically to 1.62″.
Love the perspective......
Impressive ship and great perspective!!
MY day is complete. Thank You...

I also got a chance to tour this beautiful old ship quite a few years ago, but it must have been in the pre-digital days for me because I have no digital files. I remember the tour of the engine room was great and in good detail. When I toured the USS Missouri years later they did not offer an engine room tour.
I just remembered, when I was there the USS Eisenhower was still under construction, so it had to be in the mid '70s.

Now that is a real "man of war". I saw and photographed it in Norfolk about that time also. End of a great era.
