Why is the D800 seldom in conversation. Is this not a popular camera. I have botd D80 & D800 & love them.

I suspect that most people that use the D800 have had it long enough to have learnt how to use it.
Mine is still used regularly, approx. 50/50 along with a Z6.
Replaced mine with Z6. Wish I’d kept it.

The D800 was the first, many first time owners of the D800 have moved on to the D810 and D850. Those that have held on to their D800's have mastered it so much, and are so happy, there are no more questions to ask about it.
So, look at it this way, owners of D800's could be smarter and wiser than owners of other camera models.
D800 = Great Camera. Had one for years. Some of my best shots. "Upgraded" to a D800E because it was tested as "30% sharper images." Could be ... images were still very sharp. Just got my hands on a D810. 36MP is great no matter how it comes.
Thanks for the reply. I agree and guess I will keep using mine.

...I kept mine until I got a Z7. No regrets as I get more resolution and I like the Z setup, especially the EVF, but that D800 was/is a fine camera.
My D800e is pretty much my daily carry. I use the D850 when I'm heading out on a photo trip.

I have D800's.
Use them for studio/tethered shooting and on location.
love them.
Looks like somebody grabbed it. Hopefully it was a Hogger.
If you were looking for one you probably would have been hard pressed to find a nicer one...just 679 clicks.
Not looking to purchase. I have one. Just wondering why nobody discusses. Probably cause whoever's has one, has no problems. Thanks.

I bought mine when they came out. There were a few problems with that model, I don't recall what they are other than the dial for taking exposures moves too freely so it has to be checked to see if it is on the setting I want. S, Cl and Ch were almost always incorrect from what I had it set at. There have been moments when I had a split second to take a photo and it seemed like the camera has a mind of its own.
There were enough complaints that the D800 disappeared for a bit and was replaced with both the D800E and the D810. I feel there should have been a recall.
A friend bought one at the same time as I did and doesn't have that glitch.
I have a D90 as well and most of the time it's my go-to camera.

Same here. The D90 is a great shooter despite its age. Wonderful images.

No problem, I posted the link to the one at MPB in case anyone was thinking about the D800. It was a great deal for one with a shutter count of only 679.
