This is a view from one of the many, many veranda's at the Biltmore Mansion. They overlook the vast mansion estate and the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance. Of course when your home sits on the 87,000 acres that you own there's a lot to see. It rained off and on all morning with a bit of overcast sky later in the afternoon. Not the best conditions for walking around yet great having a camera.

Absolutely beautiful. Can just imagine the views available on the many verandas. Mahalo for sharing.

Very nice sippyjug...the heavily overcast conditions may not be a lot of fun to be out in, but didn’t hurt your photograph at all. Well done...thanks for sharing

Really nice capture. Good composition and soft lighting. There is a lot to take in on this image, and I mean that in a good way.
My only suggestion, would be to crop out the verticals on the left edge of this image. They are distracting IMHO and add nothing to this fine capture.

The Biltmore Mansion was the home of George Vanderbilt that he had built in 1889 and it took six years to build and contains over four acres of floor space, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. He bought 87,000 acres in Asheville, NC to set his mansion on. That's why there are so many verandas with majestic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Thanks, the weather conditions worked great for the camera. No "noon day sun" or hard shadows or extremes in dynamic range.

Thanks for viewing and for the advice. I was standing a bit back in the doorway for they have many of the areas roped off with the verandas being one of them. I suspect that they are concerned that people will be climbing on the rails or worse yet falling or jumping off.

Best photograph I have seen of that veranda! Just to give some prospective; the original acres was 125,000 acres that is 195.3125 sq. miles.
