Cathedral Valley Loop Tour, Capitol Reef N.P. - No.5 - Temples and Cathedrals
This post will end our auto tour of the Cathedral Valley. This is the easiest section of the tour to drive with mostly a good, relatively flat dirt road with beautiful scenes in every direction.
1. Monuments arise frequently along this section of the road.

2. As do colorful spires.

3. And colorful rock walls that go on forever!

4. Lava dikes formed when molten magma pushed up through softer sedimentary cracks and fissures of the earths crust.

5. More evidence of volcanic activity are these lava sills that intruded through cracks in sedimentary layers.

6. Amazing the number of soil layers left behind from volcanic activity and erosion.

7. Our last stop to explore as a weather front was moving in.

This section is stunning. Great images of these formations and the info about formation. Thanks for taking us along on your tour.
I am totally amazed. I don't recall seeing photos of any of this before. Your shots are so well composed and detailed. I loved exploring each shot!

Fabulous shots of the magnificent scenery
Such beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the pictures of Cathedral Valley. I've visited Capitol Reef NP several times.
One time, I began the drive through Cathedral Valley but turned back because of my low-clearance vehicle. The road does present a rough ride.
If I return to CRNP, I'll surely consider following the road through Cathedral Vallely.
Here's a write-up of this scenic route:

Beautiful scenes jederick...another add to my bucket list...thanks for sharing
Outstanding set my friend. Such stunning scenery that most folks will never see in-person. Happy to see nothing has changed since my last visit to the park in 2009. If I lived a little closer I would be in that park a lot. Thanks for posting this series of images over the last week or so. I enjoyed them and they brought back very good memories of exploring the park with my girlfriend who passed away last June. Thank you very much.
