Good Friday

As a young boy I associated Easter with colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and little yellow baby chicks.  I heard a song about a bonnet in an Easter Parade, but did not know the true reason for Easter.  As I matured, I became more involved with one Church or another.  And, in doing so, I became more aware of the real reason we celebrate Holy Week each year.

One year ago, I grabbed my ancient saxophone, and went to our Church alone.  I recorded "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord" on my little iPhone. In remembrance of the day of Jesus' crucifixion, I feel like sharing this with all of you, no matter where you are.  I realize that not all of you are Christians.  You may not celebrate Holy Week.  My hope is that whatever your religious beliefs, you have a personal sense of spirituality, and will benefit from hearing me play.  Whether you are a believer or not, a little over 2000 years ago something happened which influenced the majority of the world.  I hope to remind you of that.  The Good Friday Service is solemn and quiet.  So, slow down this evening.  Find a quiet place, dim the lights, and reflect on what Good Friday is all about.

Ken, for someone with an ancient saxophone you have great control over it like you just may have practiced a little in the past years. Thanks for the post it is beautiful and I very much enjoyed it.

Thanks to all who listened. At the time of recording, the sax was 89 years old and I was 75. It's moving parts work better than mine.

Very nicely done Ken. Great presentation, also. With your permission I'd love to put it on my church's Facebook or website...

Thank you, kvanhook, for sharing. You do well on your old sax. Thanks for reminding us all of the real significance. "For God so LOVED, that He GAVE..." What a love... what a Savior! Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward US, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for US. Yes, we were there!

You may feel free to use this video as you wish. Spread it around and share it with others. I do wish I could have done it with a decent audio setup but all I could use was my iPhone. As I said in the original post, "I feel like sharing this with all of you, no matter where you are." So, I'm glad for anyone to enjoy it.
