More than a thought, its personal experience.

An ode to the 15 who stayed...

15 lonely soles
their partners ran away
I wonder, is it smell?
or monsters wants to play...

15 never right
its hard when all alone,
strangers in the crowd
I wish I have a clone...

15 left behind
can never be as one
can they be made a towel
or hanky? anyone?
.

Yep! That's life for the poor socks. For that reason, I started buying the same kind of dress socks and "sport" socks.

Washing machines feed on sox.
When they are gone they are in the Hose Zone

I beg to differ. When all the socks are in the washing machine, they plan a break out when they are put in the dryer. One day in Heaven, we will come across a pile of socks and find the ones we lost way back when.

I've only lost one pair of socks.
Some others go on vacation for a week or two, one at a time.

I lose one every couple of months at the laundromat... As shown above, it is never a matching one to previous losses. I have several singles in a drawer, just waiting to be matched up later...

That's a bit of a stretch. Since I alway find more hangers in the laundry room when I come up short on socks, Occam's Razor would suggest socks are the larvae for hangers and dryer heat causes their transformation.

My missing socks usually turn up between the washer and dryer, having fallen into that space while I loaded the washer or transferred the washed clothes to the dryer. It’s a boring process so little attention to detail is given to it.

My solution has been to only buy matching socks. When I get down to one pair, I buy more of same...

...and I thought missing socks were what fed black holes!
