Ten years ago I worked on an oil refinery expansion project where one of my jobs as a Project Controls accountant was to photo document the progress of the individual modules our yard was responsible for. This was at the Cianbro Module Yard in Brewer, Maine. We were one of 4 yards working on the project for a refinery in Port Arthur Texas. I worked for the project owners - Motiva-Aramco Joint Venture. We would load the finished modules onto a barge at our waterfront pier on the Penobscot River across from Bangor and a flotilia of three tugs would take the barge down the river to Penobscot Bay. Once on open water, two barges would peel off and berth in Searsport while the third tug completed the trip to the Gulf of Mexico. The first picture is the first barge load clearing the Penobscot Narrows Bridge with Bucksport in the background. I was tagging along on the plane ride to catch the event. The 2nd picture was trip #6 as my tug was along side the towing tug and we were transferring crew back onto our boat after having cleared the mouth of the river in Searsport. There were about 7 or 8 trips in all.
