Does anyone have a 8K TV?

If so, have you noticed a difference as to picture quality, over 4K, or HD, after loading some high resolution photos? I have a 82 inch and wonder if an 8K would make a difference of viewing my photos.

A pixel is a pixel. For looking at still images, the only difference 8K is going to give you over 4k is how much of the image can be displayed 1:1 to the pixels in the image.

Consider a 24MP image. That's 6000x4000 pixels. A Samsung 72-inch 8K UHD can display 7680x4320, so you can now see your image with no resizing. The images from your 36MP camera also will display in their full glory of 7360×4912. Standing nose to screen, you will be seeing the entire detail of the image at the 1:1 pixel level, just like you see only a portion of the image on your smaller computer monitor at 1:1 (aka 100% crop).

The Samsung literature talks about 'upscaling' smaller content to 8K. You'd have to inspect to see if that result is better, indifferent or worse than the original 1:1 pixel resolution of the image that doesn't fill the 8K 72" screen.

Didn't see any still 8K display but while I was in Japan April 2019 I saw TV program on an 8K TV. It looked great and I am sitting 3 ft away from an 60 inch screen. And yes NHK did broadcast some 8K programming over the air.

Thank you both for replying. I have a Canon R5 and am looking at an 82 inch 8K. My photos look noticeably better on my 4K screen than on an HD screen.

I would not use a TV to display high resolution pictures. TVs have different purposes. Use a large monitor that you can calibrate. Don't get me wrong, I love high resolution TV. I am getting to the point I won't watch Movies unless they are in 4K. Go into your TV's menus and see if any of that makes sense.

Yes, your photos should look better. This can be tricky as not all the HDMI ports on those 8KTVs can accept a 8K signal. Most sets may only have one 8K HDMI port initially. Also you have to use an HDMI cable that supports the latest HDMI format which is HDMI2.1. to deliver the proper bandwidth for the signal. Those just became available fairly recently.

Thank you those are my thoughts as well.
