Have you noticed that there are a lot of young, bald men? When I was a kid, it seemed like only old men went bald. Of course, being a kid, anyone over 18 could have been considered old. Seriously, though, I don't remember seeing so many young men with shiny heads. Is it something in the water.

Please avoid political comments so we can keep this out of The Attic.

I think you nailed it with your second sentence, it’s all in our perception of young and old.
To me now, anyone under about 45 is a kid, bald or not!

Yup, plus there are some men that shave because they like the look.

our niece's husband was as bald as an egg at the age of 22. He is now 70 and has a big beard.

50 years ago I did the first year of my aprenticeship at an 'off the job' training centre. By the time that year was finished one kid was totally bald.
One of my sons is going the same way but at least he's got into his 30's. It's not in the genes, me, his grandfather and my grandfather all have / had full heads of hair.

A lot of the guys you see are “shaved” not “bald”, they prefer that look.

My son has been shaving his head for a long time. Personally I am letting nature take its course.

The way I see it; back in the day a large mane and clean shaven was considered a sign of virility, today that sign has simply been reversed, a bodacious beard and a bald head is the aspired look

I read years ago that baldness came from the Mothers side.

I’ve read that too and it’s true in my case although it didn’t start until my mid 60s.

In my mid. 70s and hair thinner & almost bald spot in back.

In mid 1960s had a friend in his early 20s who was completely bald... said it started at 15 or 16... of course his nick-name was Curley

I do notice more younger people bald now... some are shaved. Couple of guys I know that as soon as it started receding in front they started shaving head
