With all the covid vaccinations going on, has anyone been offered or gotten a flu shot? Although I have never gotten one, every year it seems I was asked at least three times if I want one.

My first covid shot is scheduled for 9:00am Wednesday. The nurse promised she would find a sharp needle.

Will be getting my second shot on Wednesday at 3PM! First shot only resulted in a sore shoulder for a couple of days. The only problem I had with the shot experience was with the Band-Aid they used to cover the shot area, it was a cartoon character of Wile Coyote! Do not know if they did that on purpose or not? I have never gotten a flu shot and believe I may have gotten the flu once in my life.

I got my first Covid shot (moderna) last week and my nurse definitely used a sharp needle. She wiped the area with an alcohol pad and when she did it again a few seconds later I asked, "did you give me the shot?". When she responded that she had I said, "nice touch, I never felt a thing." That was great because I really hate needles.

Scheduled for the 2nd shot March 17th. I hope it goes the same.

I usually try to get my shot around the 2nd week of November. An article I read several years ago stated the best time to receive a flu shot is around Thanksgiving because your immunity will be at it's best when the flu season is at it's worst. My doctor confirmed this is a very good time. Consult your doctor for their recommendation.

I never get the flu shot, I really debated with myself on whether to get the Covid Vaccine as I distrust the Government, finally got both Moderna Covid Vaccine shots at the VA Hospital, first shot was a piece of cake, second shot Chills and Shakes, Body Aches from Head to Toe and worst of all Blood Pressure went way up....However after a sleepless night recovered mostly after one day...Most of the Veterans I have talked to have had no problems after getting both Moderna shots...Hopefully no long term side effects but who knows this MRNA is new Science....

The wife and I had our appointments for our second Covid shot this afternoon. Kaiser now has on-line check in with a printable/phone app. bar code you just scan at the door as you arrive. When I went through the process this morning one of the banners along the bottom of the page asked if I had my flu shot yet. My wife and oldest son got their flu shot already, I have a podiatrist appointment in a few weeks and his nurse always offers me the flu shot - as a diabetic Kaiser wants me to see the podiatrist every 8-10 weeks to check for circulation problems etc. and so his nurses always offer diabetic patients flu and pneumonia shots (that one you do the series once and it is for life but many people have never had them).

I didn't even have a red spot or sore arm for this shot, or the first one. (Pfizer) I suspect that between my allergy meds, asthma meds, and vitamin and mineral intake plus getting the flu shot every year and having gone through the pneumonia series a few years ago my immune system is a bit better prepared for Covid-19 or other things. At least better than the average 75 year old. I also get some sunshine daily prowling the yard harassing the birds, bugs and flowers with my cameras or refilling the feeders and water dishes.

My podiatrist wants to see me every 6-8 weeks. I have an appointment one week after the covid appointment. I'm hoping he is there. If so he'll see me and I won't have to come back in a week. It's a short drive, but I'd rather sleep late.

Kaiser used to be every six weeks but their patient load grew so much with the ACA they don't have enough podiatrists and had trouble getting more. So they changed it to 12 weeks and then back down to 8-10 weeks when they hired some more podiatrists or podiatric PAs and NPs.

Supply and demand even applies to medicine.

I supply the feet and demand he takes a look at them.

Seriously, he told me they are limiting the number of patients he can see because of cleaning between each patient. Although I'm diabetic I don't have any real issues with my feet. But, as long as they keep giving me 2 new pair of boots a year, I'll keep showing up.

I didn't get a regular flu shot - never do, though. Hubby had his flu shot a few months ago. We both have had both doses of the Moderna vaccine. I had my 1st January 4, and the second Feb. 2. Hubby's were January something or other and Feb. 16. If memory serves, the medical advice is to avoid any other immunizations/vaccinations within 30 days of the Covid vaccines, except in very rare instances.

Make sure the needle the nurse uses isn't bent!

I can get diabetic shoes on Rx but haven't bothered in years. Since I retired the only pair of shoes I tossed was some New Balance walking shoes I had for almost 10 years. After I washed them for the ???? time the stitching on the uppers started coming out so I tossed them in the recycle. I have a pair of leather moccasins that will go soon, I have used them for house shoes for about 7 or 8 years and the stitching holding the double bottom on is starting to go.
