We have an old mill on Slippery Rock creek. It has been refurbished and doesn't have an outside wheel but rather a turbine (water powered) There's also a covered bridge there and it is now a state park. Slippery Rock is well named as the rocks get that way. The creek passes through a canyon ( PA type canyon) but is picturesque. The creek is large enough for Kayaking. Problem is it is quite a way from Nazareth. A few years ago a fellow from NJ
wanted to come and see my woods in bloom and could he drive here in two hours. I told him he could depending on how fast his car could go.If you are going to be in this area call mail me.

I'll keep that in mind -- thanks for the invite. I do want to get out to Cherry Valley one day and while not just around the corner, is on the right side of the state from where you are. Have you visited Cherry Valley? It is designated as a National Black Sky Zone. There is a park there where photographers gather to photograph the Milky Way. Only red filtered flashlights are allowed after a certain time. If I get to that side of the state in the near future it would be possible to visit both areas.

Beautiful pics. Have you been to Rome Georgia? There is the worlds largest water wheel on Berry College Campus. If in the area a must see if you love water wheels.

Thank you! I'm making a note of that. A friend from when I lived in Charleston, SC as well as another who moved and now lives in Charlotte, get together once or twice a year to go on photo outings. We've been all through SC, NC, VA, PA, NJ, NH, VT, ME, FL, GA, and CO. Just the other day Andy said we should hit parts of GA not along the coast (which is where we usually head -- for birds, wildlife, and lighthouses). This will be a good place to focus on!

Very nice shots, and an interesting looking subject. My daughter and granddaughters live in Bucks County and, hopefully, this summer we will be able to visit them. I noted the mill as a place to visit. I'm glad you posted the photos.

Thank you! While there be sure to see New Hope, as well as several covered bridges in the county. Then come north to Northampton County and see some places here (it's where I live). The Steel Stacks are worth visiting and the downtown Bethlehem is very nice. Visit Lehigh University and wonder around it's great campus. The library is wonderful -- about 5 floors high with a big center area open to shelves of books arranged like a fan around it. Make reservations to eat at the Sun Inn in Bethlehem -- George and Martha Washington ate/stayed there. It is operated by students of Moravian College. There are a number of really nice covered bridges in Northampton County as well.
