Glad you were fast enough to grab your double 500's (great combination) to get this great little raptor. Really enjoy these little raptors, their coloring is so interesting. Good catch. Bev

My wife asked me to come look at the pretty bird on the top of our pine tree. I grabbed my D500 and 500mm f5.6 PF lens hurried through the house to get to the deck. I only got off a few shots before it dove off of the opposite side of the tree and flew away. After downloading I noticed it was banded.

What a beautiful falcon. Maybe next time I can get more than the back side.

Enjoy,
Steve

Great shots.

Wonderful capture of the smallest of the falcons. The slate-blue coloring on the edge of the wings makes this an adult male. I have only been able to get a few shots of this species as they are extremely skittish. You are fortunate to get such sharp images of a very elusive raptor. Thanks for sharing.

OMG! Those Kestrel shots are about as good as could be done! Absolutely gorgeous.

LOL I can relate to the "hurrying to get my [cam]" routine, but I never got a shot the likes of those! Outstanding.
