So if I Google thermo-nuclear devices,
Who comes after me?
AEC, DoD, CIA or FBI?
All of them?
Some years ago a friend was doing research on the effects of high blood pressure. When he Googled "silent killers" he go an apparently real hit on an international asaassin.

Only if you include "home built" in the search

Good case for using DuckDuckGo, a search engine which doesn't track your search or store your personal information.
Personally, I google everything. It is helpful. I have looked up the chemical synthesis of Methaqulone and LSD. I have looked up the pharmacology of AIDS drugs. I have googled which lens is better 100-400mm or 150-600mm. I have looked up poems that relate to the loss of my son. I have looked up the assassinations of presidents and recently purchased a book about President Garfield. It is my computer and i will do with it what I like. I cannot be afraid of using it. It is not being used for devious purposes. It is a tool of knowledge. I can justify everything I look up and if big brother wishes to see my computer they are welcome. I have a friend at work who looked up a nasal drug delivery system. The corporation sent two employees and confiscated his computer. They returned it and didn’t apologize. Nothing questionable was found and No search warrant had been provided. Anyone better have a search warrant or it’s not going to end well. I have nothing to hide and everything can be disclosed.

Not too sure what the "rules" are now that folks are working from home, but when I was with the ferderal government and you were using your work computer you had zero expectation of privacy. They locked down a bunch of websites that they thought were inappropriate/dangerous/etc. in the very beginning. I don't know how the ISO came up with who was to be checked (it may have been bandwidth) but I was nailed twice. It was quite fun getting a list of websites that I was on and having to explain in detail why I was on them. I "passed" both times and the only one I can actually remember being called out on was I'd used Bing or Google maps aerial view to figure out where my TDY assignment was and I was told to use Mapquest. I ignored her.
BTW, the ATF (or as I joking referred to it to a friend that worked for them in the south BBG.. Booze, 'Bacci, and Guns) would probably be interested in the search history.. Kinda' what the thread was about.

It is interesting to note but I don’t know what the rules are either. Anything that you type into a search engine can have at least two interpretations. I can imagine ‘breast cancer’ being blocked. I can imagine ‘terrorist strategies ’ being blocked. I can imagine ‘hostage taking’ or even ‘bank robberies using a face mask’ being blocked. Personally, I never heard of any rules governing our use of the internet. And it is rather Orwellian to believe that Big Brother is watching. Right now I’m sitting on my couch with cellphone in hand waiting for a loud knock on the door. This gives a whole new meaning to “Freedom is Not Free”
