I've seen too many companies acquire a brand for "name recognition" and slap the name on junk. Or start with noble intent but give up and pass the name on to the next guy who buys junk and slaps the name n.
Such practices are rampant through many industries.

JIP bought the Olympus camera business and all its same techs and employees and moved them intact to a new factory. So there is no reason to think the Olympus cameras they will produce, introduce and sell will be of any less quality than before. They just wont come from the Olympus Corporation. JIP bought the rights to the Olympus and OM brand names also for its camera gear. Cheers
