Hey y'all! I've been following for awhile, and finally found the guts to jump in and buy a camera! Found a T7i on clearance for a steal, and can't wait to start figuring it out lol. I love how close this community is, and feel that I've found "my people" already!

Welcome Corrie, lots of experience and knowledge from the folks here (not me so much) so please enjoy photography, post your photos here and don't be afraid to ask questions that will help you learn and improve your skills. Best, chase
Hi Corrie: Welcome from a fellow Texan (Amarillo). I've learned a lot in just a year or so.

Welcome to UHH. Enjoy your new camera! In my opinion, the Canon T7i is a good DSLR choice for someone getting started in digital photography!
Thank you! I've been watching this one for awhile, I'm glad I finally made my decision 😁
I'm near Dallas 😁
I can't wait to start taking pictures of EVERYTHING!! LOL
What SD card do y'all recommend?

SanDisk, Emtec, Lexar -- I have used all and they've all been good (so far). I always format when I put a card in, whether it has been used before or is brand new. Every time! Also I never fill a card completely. Most of my cards are relatively small storage -- 32 GB or so. Of course, you may need more capacity if you are shooting weddings or sports, etc. Lastly, when I take a card out, I put it in its little plastic box if I'm going to tuck it in my pocket or camera bag. I ruined one SD card when I shoved it in my pocket and one of the little metal thingies (that's tech speak for the formal name -- thingamajig
) caught on a thread and broke off. Probably more than you ever wanted to know about SD cards!
Lol great tip-- and, yes...that's the technical term 🤣🤣
