I have read on this forum about getting "high speed SD cards" with a number value of 8, 10, or 11. My question is.......WHERE do I find this number?? I bought a card at Best Buy and it says on it "San Disk Extreme" up to 45 MB/s. Then in really small print (which I saw just now) it says UHS Speed class 1. This is not what I want, or what you in the know have been talking about, is it? Will a camera store carry any higher speed card, or do I have to get something like that online? Should I take the one I just bought back to BB?

Ah, the joy of buying photo equipment at Best Buy. Bet you got a good price though? Take it back and get a faster card. Better yet go to you local camera store and tell them what camera you shoot, what you like to shoot, if you do any video, etc and they will recommend the proper card for your shootin needs. good luck.
$27.00 for a 16G card. Only problem with "local" is that there isn't any. Local for me is having to go to Madison.......50 miles away. But I could use a trip there anyway. LOL Camera Company, here I come???
Class 10 should be prominat on the card
Adorama, B&H, Cameta, Amazon, Ebay ( BE CAREFUL not to buy any media cards from Asia, they are counterfit JUNK.)
I use Amazon and have never had any issues
Go to Amazon and get a few 8 or 16 GB cards by Transcend and get the #10's(speed). They will handle all you can throw at them and the price is right.....! They have a lifetime guarantee and I have a bunch of them and they work flawlessly.

Relax, you are ok. Beyond Class 10 is the UHS Speed Class. UHS stands for ultra high speed and includes cards that have speeds up to 312 Mb/s. The UHS speed class logo includes a number contained within a U-shape. Currently, there is only one UHS speed class: UHS Speed Class 1, which is designed for the UHS bus interface. Cards in this class will usually be noted as SDHC UHS-I or SDXC UHS-I.

Sometimes instead of a class rating you get a number like 45 MB/s. I think I have class 6 cards right now and they also have 30 MB/s on them so you should be pretty good. Although I would have to go get them out to find out for sure.

Go to this link:
http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/sd/You have bought a fast card, not the fastest but next to it. The extreme pro is sandisk's fastest that I know of. Depending on the camera you are useing you may not need this fast of a card. The faster cards will download quicker to the computer though. Most cards are cheaper from online sources than Best Buy and depending on purchase amount you may get free shipping from some online vendors.

I did get a class 10 32g sandisk at best buy. But, I make an awful lot of purchases through Amazon and never had a bad experience there. Would have gotten the card that way too 'cept I needed it right now. A+ to Adorama too!

I didn't think anyone was selling Class 1. I get my Sandisk cards from Amazon.
Could it be UHS Class 1?
Unless you shoot in burst mode, do you really need "fast" Cards ??? I just bought five 4 Gig DanDisk cards from Amazon. With shipping = $5.00 each.......... AND used my American Express reward points to pay for them !!!
I just checked, they were Class 4 cards. I never have a problem taking 3-4 shots in succession. I could have ordered Class 6 cards for $8.50 each ............
