This is a little beetle that found its way into the house late last night which I found on the wall by the floor lamp. I keep specimen bottles by my chair for just such occasions and I took the beetle downstairs for a 5X magnification focus stacking session.

Thanks, Quixdraw. Not on-the-hoof like your lovely posts in their natural settings although I try to bring out the finest details in these.

Thanks, Doc. Illumination is the trick-of-the-trade and its own mastery. The camera and lenses are the mechanical part of the product and they follow specific laws with specific repeatable expectations.

That'll teach them to enter your home uninvited and ignore social distancing. Wonderful shot again.

Thanks, Brenda. It's all our dogs fault that they get in. The little jerks get distracted in the exercise yard and so when I call them to come in they ignore me (come to think of it...so does my Better Half). I stand there with the door open and the porch lights on waiting for them.

Most people would be aggravated that insects get in however to me each one is like a Christmas Present, a gift for the next day to enjoy.
