Flowers are a passion of mine. My wife loves growing them and I love taking their portraits. . I’ve given these roses a little twist with PhotoShop Elements 9. Feel free to critique. I’m always looking to improve.

I’ve been a photography student for about a year now. I’m always in the "learning mode". Thanks in advance for your feedback. I have many more from this year’s growing season to share.

These are some of the flowers that both my wife and I grow on our property. It seems that you can visit the same plant every other day and get a new perspective or view of how the beauty and color come through.

Looks to me like you guys have those flower shots figured out. Very pretty and nice work also. That top rose comes across a little dark but it could be my monitor. It's been flickering lately and may be going out on me. Keep it up. I'll be looking for more.

Thanks gessman...might be a tad dark...was trying to get a translucent effect with the sun through some of the petals. Here are a few more.

Beautiful. Great job. I'd like to show 'em to my wife but I don't want to be severely cut down tonight - it's Saturday night. I'll get her in here in a few days. She'll love those. I really like the rose with the water droplets.

Love roses and all flowers, grew a rose that was 5 inches in Dia. Was a $2.00 root plant, looking for pix from the 90"s. Good show.

Thanks for the great photos of flowers in bloom. How detailed they are and how intricate in each design. I am always amazed for all that I see.

I may have been photographing for some time, but never ever gave it much thought. I do however try and try over again to replicate that which I see with my eyes and to know and find that shade and context in the item I photograph. I learn each and every time.

Love your roses. I personally don't like the blackened leaves and stems, it does make the rose stand out but it gives the picture a somber look, natural colors liven things up. like I said, it's personal taste.

I use PSE 9...I created a signature brush. If you have it let me know and I'll PM you or email you rather than explain the process here.

Roses make the best "practice" subjects , don't they!?
These are very nice! I love the blood-red color (but some are a little too dark for my taste. I'm a fan of contrast big-time, to make colors pop... but maybe the mid-tones could be tweaked a little bit?)

I ESPECIALLY love... and I DO mean love ... the ones where you've made the background(s) in b&w, leaving the rose itself the natural color!

Congrats to you, and many thanks for sharing them :)

(Kudos to your wife, on growing such beautiful flowers, too. Roses can be finicky!)

Many thanks for your feedback...yes, you're right...it's a matter of taste...and certainly appreciate your thoughts.
