Hi Tom,
Welcome to the forum. I'm certain that you'll enjoy participating on/in it.
I'm a former Marine and a retired Police detective from NE Ohio. I began to get more interested in photography while taking some elective Crime Scene photography courses while working on a Master Criminal Investigator certification program through the State of Ohio. Its been an interesting time, slowly learning about photography and realizing how much there is to learn and the potential $ if one isn't careful and wants to keep a happy home.
Enjoy the forum and the chance to learn from many vastly experienced folks who will, the majority of the time, offer unselfish help.
Regards,
Frank

Welcome to your forum. This is a great place to learn, share and grow. As for your past, allow me to thank you for your service.
In my travels, I happened upon Welfare Island now known as Roosevelt Island in the East River alongside Manhattan. I deceived to take a walking stroll/shoot of what I could find. On the south end is a memorial to President FDR. It is nice and tastefully done. On the north end of the island was a working lighthouse. But this didn’t make much sense as the south end would be where vessels steer clear of the island. Upon some research, many years ago, an insane asylum was on the island. Every morning a man would take his constitutional walk to the south end. From the quarried granite he would steal one daily from the future penitentiary that was being built. He carried the stone to the north end and built the lighthouse over several years. It was supposed to frighten off invaders to the island, his last home. The lighthouse was recommissioned as Hell’s Gate Light. I hope you enjoyed the story and do try to visit NYC.
Happy Shooting!
Welcome to UHH Tom. Thank you for your service.

Welcome. If you get to La. we have an old pre-civil war lighthouse being restored in Cameron parish that would make a good photo op for you.
