I have been reading topics of the people who are not quiet sure how to use their camera. I am another one in that boat. bought a Nikon Coolpix from a real brick and mortar camera shop. after I started taking the 'how to' classes, the store owner suddenly passed and the store closed.
been shooting in manual for the last few years.
Now. I realize there is a detailed manual online and have discovered so many great things this camera is capable of. wow, just wow!
Still not sure if this is a mirrorless, dslr, or what it is for sure.
Someone will chime in with more info but I don’t think it’s a mirrorless. The Coolpix is a bridge camera. You Have most of the options of a DSLR but you can’t change to another lens. Have fun.
Check with other local camera stores to see if they offer classes (even if you didn't get your camera from them). Or, check your local area for adult classes or community college classes. Those three options typically offer reasonably-priced classes. Or search Google and/or YouTube for online videos or other resources.

Hi Sharon, welcome to UHH. Not sure what model Coolpix you have as you didn't specify. Here are two links to some tutorials on various Coolpix cameras that might help you.

Welcome aboard Sharon. If you have questions someone smarter than me can answer them.😁
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome, Sharon. I've had several Coolpixes along the way, and it's often described as a point and shoot. However, as you are discovering, it's capable of much more than that.
Welcome to the Hog, Sharon, enjoy.
