Look Into My Eye

This was taken a few years ago. I never knew Parrots had eyelashes until I looked at this photo. They are actually a special kind of feather that doesn't have the 'feathery' part at the top of the quill. (A little known and useless fact). This is my sweetie, Hope, who is very photogenic.

Whenever one says this is "my sweetie" I for one would never say that it is not a great picture - yep, I'm pretty much spineless. Another useless but a very well known fact.
Sorry I do ramble, which I could blame on my age but then I never was one to get to the point. My first thought when you mentioned that this picture was taken seveeral years ago is -would you do it differently today? Has your knowledge and or techniques changed to the point of it being an evolved version. Just curious, in more ways then one. Thanks for sharing.

I really am happy with the results I got. I know the eye is in the center. If I tried to use the rule of 3s based on the eye, I feel I would have to show more of the bird than I wanted and too much background. Thanks for your comment and I do welcome any constructive criticism even if it is my sweetie. :D

I am not one for the rules - should be called guidlines or suggestions. Often the pictures that stand out break everyone of the "rules". Just returned from the museums in Washinton DC where a good share of my time was spent enjoying different photo exhibits and the truth is lots of rules were shattered and lots of different brands of equipment was used. Always enjoy seeing what you are up to.

your parrot photo is a textbook example of when to break the rule of thirds. the colors are vivid (always a plus for me) well done. the only downside to me for looking at parrots is it puts me in the mood to go a bucanering :!: :!: Argh matey. the parrot an captn jack agree time to walk the plank. argh

Photogenic indeed!
Awesome close-up and a bonus "something new learned for the day". Thanks! :)

Thanks everyone for your nice comments and taking time to check out my photo. I wouldn't let him wear his pirate hat or peg leg for the photo and he has never forgiven me. :-)
