Yes, never easy
I'm a Sony person, and loving my a77. started with the a100, then a700 and now on to a77.
The moveable LCD screen is great. Movie mode also a positive.
I do have a few pics posted on this site under New Zealand Scene
I'm sure if you purchase the a77 you won't be disappointed.
What lens are you using?

Regards

Good one....... bought my a77 about 6months ago and really enjoying it
I'm using Tamron lens 17-50, 18-270 and 70-300. using the 18-270 more than the other two
Tamron seem to make a very good quality lens.
Was in Melbourne a couple of years ago, what a lovely city, been to Aussie about four times, mainly on the Sunshine Coast.
Regards

First, Canon makes a 7D not D7. The sd cards are the newer card type but the CF cards are still very popular because they are actually the better card.

What are you shooting? Nature, sports, landscape or portrait? The 7D has built a great reputation are a sports/nature camera body because of its speed (fps) and its acurate focusing system.

Just something to think about.

Have a Canon 7D and love it cuz I shoot wildlife, action and landscape. It is an amazing camera and I'm still very much in the learning stages of getting the most out of it. I bought this model as I wanted a camera that I wouldn't grow out of for a long time, if ever. It was recently stolen, and I'm now trying to decide between new and refurbished. Thanks to this wonderful forum, have decided to go with refurb. cuz that question was recently posted here, very helpful!

Have never used a Sony, so have no opinion on those.

Hope this is helpful. Dee

Hi, I just purchased the A77, and I am hooked!! But I am a Sony lover so I prefer the technology of Sony. I have a Canon and I use it for back up, but since getting the 77...I don't need back anymore!!!
My vote would be Sony, but you need to get what makes you happy and comfortable...
Happy taking pictures!!!

If you can handle both to see which fits your hand better. It does make a difference. I won't say make it #1 on the priority list but don't discount it.

Coming from an a350, you can use your existing batteries as well as lenses and flash.

It will also shoot up to 12 fps wide open. I think 8 fps otherwise. You'll be amazed how fast those shots click off compared to your 350. I used to leave my 300 on continuous shutter and now leave my a77 on single unless I specifically want continuous.

Get serious in what way? If you are looking to get into sports or nature photography you should stick with the 7D as Canon has FAR more lenses available especially long telephoto ones. If your shooting pretty much everything else you can't go wrong with either system especially if you are familiar with Sony cameras. I have two 7D's and personally I love them.

I agree, love my 7D & my 50D! You are also right about more lenses from Canon but do not forget that when you get above 400mm the price get VERY EXPENSIVE!

Love my A77.
The in camera HDR and panoramic are really unique and fun. The translucent mirror makes it possible. Also have Nikon d800. Like both.

Yes love the features that the Sony Alpha 77 offers, I have never used a Nikon as I am so deep into Sony. I have a Canon but if you like one camera and it works good for what your taking pictures if, then stick with it!!

I don't know what planet you're living on-There are as many lenses as you could possibly need or use available for the Sony(as well as for Olympus, Pentax et al). The A-77 gives you up to 12 fps-is that good enough for sports? On a side note, I had a spot on the mirror of my A-77, and in a clumsy attempt to clean it, I damaged the mirror. Since it was 'my bad', I figured that I was on the hook for whatever the repair cost would be(Sony said a minimum of l$150). Got a call from Sony repair yesterday saying that the repair was completed and the camera is on it's way back to me-No Charge! Blew me away!
