Sorry for the clumsy title - I'm really trying to cover print in the landscape.
The use of print or symbolic imagery in our everyday landscape is so common that we tend to take it for granted, even ignore it, although that may be at our peril. I suppose all of it is informational in one way or another, sometimes welcome, other times not. We tend to welcome the helpful, (e.g. Toilets thataway), but how do we feel about advertising, and does that depend on density, or whether we are searching for something particular, or feeling irritated by unwelcome or congested messages.
Apart from the purely practical, are we entertained and if so how? What do we make of foreign language signs, notices or billboards? If we don’t understand, perhaps they nevertheless provoke curiosity, mystification or fear. So there is a wide variety of forms out there, with a diversity of motives and a diversity of reactions.
Photographically, these things can enhance composition, add interest, lend a touch of humour and so on. Practically, I tend to use photographic images of words in the landscape to remind me where I was, or to store information for future review or as an aid to memory.
I have a smattering of images to post, and will be interested to see yours.

I've never been up there, and now I never shall - too bad! I like the one with the steps - something special there?
