Why Some Hummingbirds Are Hard to Identify

Here are two photos, taken seconds apart, of the same hummingbird, which is, I believe, an Anna's hummingbird. The iridescent red color only is apparent when the light comes from certain directions.

Nice photos.

I try to keep it simple when identifying hummingbirds. I just say hi, Fred and Ethel. Sometimes George and Gracie.

Wow! I thought you had two different birds That sure does make I.D. more difficult Nice shots, which perfect illustrate the problem
