Bosque is a wonderful place as I'm sure you experienced and you went at the right time to see the Sandhills. Just some thoughts on exposure though, if you don't mind. It seems to me the birds are about 2 stops underexposed. In a situation like this, your camera will fake you out if you are using an auto exposure method when shooting against a bright sky and will therefore results in underexpose subject. Here, your subject is considerably less bright than the sky. So, when I am in a similar situation, I will take a reading off the sky and adjust my exposure about +2 stops. You might want to try it.

I agree. She was using shutter priority and it was set for 1/4000th of a sec and the aperture couldn't open up any more than f/6.3 so the shot was a bright as it could get with those settings. She should have used Av or aperture priority, and for a person with little experience might also set the camera up for Auto ISO. The pics will be properly exposed 95% of the time.

Beautiful shots, but they need a little work in Levels. Too dark.
