Good boy! Call it what you will; Coydog, Eastern Coyote, or Coymolf. Up close and personal, Taken in East Lyme Ct. Ecologist and evolutionary biologist Javier Monzón analyzed the DNA of eastern coyotes and found the genes contain all three canids — dog, wolf, and coyote. According to Monzón’s research, about 64% of the eastern coyote’s genome is coyote (Canis latrans), 13% gray wolf (Canis lupus), 13% Eastern wolf (Canis lycaon), and 10% dog (Canis familiaris).

Whatever you call it, it looks big enough to eat you...

What a Beautiful Animal.....wow and thank you for the info on their ancestry DNA as well. Very interesting and they seem to have thrived nicely over the centuries and our intrusion into their habitats.

Don’t care what his genes say about him - he’s a handsome canine in his winter duds!
