Simply beautiful formations and colours.

The blue on the slot canyon wall is a reflection from the blue sky. Water was seeping down the canyon wall making it wet, shiny and reflective of the blue sky. A once in a lifetime sight.
Please download for correct color and detail.
Spectacular, thanks for sharing.

I went to my Benchmark Road and Recreation Atlases for Utah and AZ, which have very detailed maps, but could not find any reference to Wire Pass or Coyote Buttes, although there was mention of a Coyote Knolls in a very remote area of Utah. Could you be so kind as to further identify the location, how it's accessed, is it BLM land, state park, private, etc.? I ask because your fabulous image makes me want to go there and I plan to visit the red rock country in the SW this coming spring. Thanks for any further info and for posting this wonderful image.

I can help you out. Wire Pass slot canyon is about half way between Kanab UT and Page AZ. From hwy 89 turn south on House Rock Valley Road and drive about 8.5 miles to the trailhead. Wire Pass leads into the much bigger Buckskin Gulch slot canyon. Both slots are on BLM land and you do not need a permit as long as your day hiking. The trailhead shares a parking area with the very famous "The Wave" hike. You do need a permit for the Wave. They are issued through an online lottery and next to impossible to win it because of the number of people applying vs number of permits issued per day. This didn't deter me from applying though. Unfortunately I struck out.

Thanks for the info, I had looked into the wave before and looked near impossible to get a permit.
Google "North Coyote Buttes" and you will see how to get there. It's on BLM land, and you need a permit to go there. The road to the trailhead "Wirepass " is on good dirt road, but do NOT go too fast as there is a rivulet crossing that almost took my oil pan out. Getting a permit is the big problem, though. South Coyote Buttes need also a permit, but the drive to the trailhead is tricky. Soft and deep sand.Go to the BLM site for the coyote buttes where you can find all the necessary info.
