I have been back in the photography hobby for about two years. Shoot Nikon D7200, Lumix FZ1000 and an old Nikon P5000 P&S. Purely a hobby type trying to be as artistic and creative as my talents allow.
Have been a subscriber to the Adobe Creative Cloud for the same period. My plan is the CC Photography Plan w/1TB (which has LR Classic, LR CC and PS). I have only ever used the LR Classic software. I like it, but am paying $21.19 monthly ($254.28 annually). Seems a bit steep as it goes on forever and will never go lower.
So, need advice on any software which can do close to what LR Classic does insofar as organizing, processing, etc.. Also concerned with the effort of transitioning from LR to another software.
Have spent some time browsing info on Gimp, Luminar 4, Raw Therapee but need thoughts from seasoned pros who have made a similar switch and been satisfied. Just an old geezer here on a fixed income who would like to save a few bucks and still be satisfied with my images.
Change your plan to the $10 / month version. You seem to have picked the wrong one from their menu of options.
I agree with Paul. If you are comfortable with the Adobe suite, and can manage $10/month, I would recommend staying with that.
If for some reason you can't, or don't want to spend any money, DarkTable and RawTherapee are the big open source projects that have resources and tutorials on YouTube that are pretty thorough, but at least for DarkTable, will be a bit of a learning curve getting used to the modules and what they do.

Reduced to the 20GB plan. Brain dead (but just for 22 months)!
Try Cyberlink PhotoDirector. Lightroom clone, so minimal learning curve
Usually on sale, both subscription and stand alone. Don't buy at full price, but even that is cheaper than Adobe.
Has Layers which lightroom doesn't.
They keep adding a ton of presets (styles) which can be fun if you're in to that sort of thing.
Here is a little review -

Affinity....now on sales for $35.00

Affinity is a Photoshop clone. It's not an alternative to LR in that it can't do nearly anything that LR does. Affinity has no image management (database) capabilities and it is exclusively a raster image editor while LR is a parametric editor.
True they both process photos but the similarity ends there.

And.... OP took Paul's advice and downgraded his Adobe membership to the $10/month subscription.
The new versions of Luminar and ON1.

On1 Raw 2020 will do what Lightroom does and a lot of what Photoshop does, including layers and creative filters with masks. Importantly for you, it migrates you Lightroom edits into their DAM system. On sale now for a one time fee.

Gotta Love that great new free benefit included of Adobe leaking millions of cloud member/owner's data and detail online; at no extra charge, what a company. Thankful, eh, no:)

Luminar4 is great, inexpensive, fast and fun. Capture One is a bit deeper and more expensive but great as well. No more monthly payments required now that so many other options have become available.
Cheers!

Yup, the $10 plan is your best option, unless you really need that storage!
