Just happened to be outside with camera and 1200 zoom so I thought I may get something. The dot's not a spot on your screen. ;-) They are unedited and will look better downloaded.

Nice images.
Yeah I broke out my little 90mm telescope with sun filter on (of course).
It was ... spectacular.

I know that is Mercury crossing in front of the Sun. I'm familiar with a planet transit. May I offer a critique? It is very faint. Could you have made it more visible. I'm not sure how to enhance Mercury. Are there any professionals that wish to share?

Happy Shooting!

Well, I was looking through my scope and I could get either the sun or Mercury in focus ... but not at the same time.
My scope is an f/11 ... so that tells you we are still dealing with incredible distances between the two subjects.
Mercury looked sharp as a tack btw ... like a perfect pencil dot.
Of course, there is always stacking.

I will probably venture into Astrophotography as a new area to attempt. But then again, I am a hobbyist. please wish we luck.

Luck!! Hey, I'm right there with you.
I have a telescope and for its size and ease of being able to look at something within 5 minutes ...great scope.
I snap a few night shots now and again...but it's a specialty field.
To do it right means gathering the right equipment.
Great stuff though.

The only thing you could have done was to take two images ... one focused on mercury, and the other on the sun. Then stack them together.
Next time ... in 2032 LoL
