I purchased a 710 when it came out because I could read the price tags on the other side of the store and focus within 1/2" of the tag in front of me. It's lighter and easier to carry on vacation, especially to theme parks. I use it to take photos at scale model contests. It does things a DSLR can not. Keep playing with it, it will continue to amaze you. I have three photos in a show right now, all taken with my 710.
