Great blending with your layers, colors and choice of textures. πŸ‘
You have an option to let your textures overprint the Falcon. If you choose to do so you can set the opacity much lower for that part of the texture. This is an overall soft picture and by overprinting the texture the edges of the feathers will have a soft blending effect.
Don't get me wrong your picture is great as is but if you should blow it up and print to about a 28 inches you might see the area where I have concerns.

Beautiful. Looks like a painting.

Surely does--and not just in technique. Color and composition are first class, too.

Thank you Jim for your idea. I've worked a little bit with fading the feathers into the background, I think that's what you're referring too, but not happy with my technique yet....need more practice. Evidently I don't have a clear idea of what I want yet because my hang up is how far into the subject (whether bird, flower, etc), to take the background or at what opacity. I'm working on grading the opacity, but not there yet. Thanks again, Bev

I really like this effect. Can I ask you to add a bit more info on the "Texture backgrounds" and "Topaz Edge" please?

Love these little falcons. Original image had too contrasty a background to show off the bird. Used 3 Daily Texture backgrounds and finished with a Topaz edge. Comments and critiques always welcome. Bev

To catch the little one in flight, I used a high ISO, so first thing I ran it through Topaz AI DeNoise. Then I darkened the branch and removed white spots in the background so it would blend better. The first background I used was from Daily Texture Secrets collection. Then DT Pearle Glimmer in Soft Light at 50%, then DT Nostalga at 30% to give it a big of a dark edge. The last layer was one of my own clouds image blended in soft light at about 30%. I thought I'd used a Topaz edge from their Effects, but I didn't, I liked the edge that Nostalga had. I masked the bird out in each layer, as I wanted it to show through clearly.

PM me if you want any further info. Bev

I an not a big fan of vignetting. Here it's effect feels like the bird is ensnared. At least that is how I react. I love how you have rendered the bird with so much softness combined with the sharpness. It has the feeling of a Japanese screen. The subtlety of its feet and the general lower right corner are diminished by the dark flecks that are especially abundant there. It might take a while to clone them out, but I think cleaning it up would be worthwhile. Might even darken its claws to enhance the birds presence rather than fade out. Really nice though!

Absolutely gorgeous image, Bev,
With no bands on the legs it would seem to be a wild bird. Where did you get the shot?

We have a Birds of Prey Center in our High Desert Museum. They work to help raptors recover from injury and released back into the wild, and also raptors not able to survive in the wild. It came to them because it was bred/raised for abatement and can not survive in the wild and is used for educational purposes. This bird has been trained to fly from perch to perch and a small group of photographers are allowed to photograph some of these training sessions. As a confind bird, they are wearing transmittors in case they decide to go site seeing. I covered the antenna with the backgrounds. Bev

This is really, really nice NikonGal and I've gone back and looked at some of your other posts. Love the ones done with Topaz, I belong to those forums as well and Topaz is a lot of fun to play with. Love your falcon photos and be sure to check out our "Pampered Pets Corner" and post some photos of your beautiful dog. We love all pets and you've done an excellent job on this one!
