September Colors in Olympic National Park

The Alpine Blueberry leaves start turning red in mid-September most years, developing their intense red tones towards the first week of October.

This was a good time to have Velvia 50 transparency film, with its bold rendering of the primary colors, as well as the big camera - a pain to pack but a joy to use.

A few days of off trail wandering from cirque to cirque, and tarn to tarn, in colorful terrain. Strenuous? Yes. Rewarding? Yes.

I'm glad you're sharing the results of your efforts. It's not just the autumn colours - the blues and greens look pretty good too.

Wonderful shot and love the colors as you presented them. Didn't get a chance to use much Velvie...moved to digital quickly. Bev

I love the way film records light and color!

I agree. I use a digital camera as well as my film cameras. They both have differences in rendering or recording colors, although a definitive variation comes with 'processing' after the shot is taken.
