Heard unusual sounds the other late afternoon. My wife said...look at that bird on the balcony rail! Shoo it away.
So, I looked...took out my iPhone and took some pictures.
What did we find or what found us?
Thanks.

Nice shot.

That's an adult Peregrine, an immature would be brown. The green band on it's leg indicates that it was banded in the eastern United States. Unfortunately the letter-number code isn't readable in your photo. If it were you could report it to USGS and they'd tell you where and when it was banded.

Thanks for the information. All of this just proves....a photo is much more when you know the story.

You are Blessed with The Peregrine Falcon....the fastest Bird alive on the planet and your is an excellent specimen of that species. WOW !......I have only seen two in my 73 years of existence and they are as good as it gets in the Raptor World here in the east coast near D.C.

Try putting out raw meat scraps to attract them into feeding cycles if you can without attracting attention to your activity from your neighbors. And maybe you'll get a nesting pair on your balcony with new chicks in the spring........very cool indeed. Good Luck.

And get lots of photos while you are at it !

looks like a Peregrin Falcon. And they are often on high rise window areas.

Nice! Peregrine falcons do pretty well in cities, which are much like canyons to them, and this is where they hunt pigeons. There is some amazing footage of that which you can find online.
