Having been bitten twice by rattle snakes, the only type of snakes I will be around now are:
"Boots, Belts and Hatbands . ."
Just what Dorothy would have exclaimed on the Yellow Brick Road! Nice captures
I really like the photo of the Garter snake. Just waited on the trail while horse back riding in S. California for a 3ft long Southern Pacific to pass by before proceeding.
Great shots! Glad the dog wasn't harmed. My friend's dog got bit by a rattler. Got really sick but survived.

Garter Snake,
Thamnophis sp., fine. I'm not fond of Rattlesnakes,
Crotalus sps.. Being in California I've seen and heard a lot more Rattlesnakes than Garter Snakes, unfortunately! The venomous ones are an ever present worry for Dog and Horse owners.
Wow, didn't know they were found that far North!

I have seen Massasaugas in northern Michigan, but they are pretty rare.
