Well, I read this from the beginning! Your post added nothing and was, at best, confusing. Please STOP and go TROLL some other site Mr. 48 Posts! Should you wish to continue here, please contribute something positive.

There again I read that someone mentioned a D6 and just assumed that it was in the works or very nearly so, (probably wrongfully so) but if not please accept my apologies for that also. I sometimes make those kind of mistakes when I am reading something from someone I think is more knowledgeable in such matters than I am. Again sorry if I misled anyone or caused any kind of confusion.

Well I am not actually trolling, my initial post was in response to others making a comment on the possibility of a Nikon D6 so if I came across as a troll I do offer my deepest apologies. I was just trying to join in the conversation about the possibility of a new camera coming from Nikon. Sorry if my 48 posts does not fit your definition of a true enthusiast or professional. I admit I am new here and up until now did not feel I had much to offer such a professional group of photographers. I joined this site in the hopes of learning something, but with the rhetoric that you offer I am not sure I made a wise decision in coming here.

You're actually very welcome here both to ask questions and to contribute to the discussion. We ask that either you state facts, or preface your opinion as such so that rumors don't start or are quelled. We have a sufficient amount of trolls. Differences of opinion are normal and appreciated as well as allowed. IMHO there will be a D6, sometime in the next year. What new features it will have is still a mystery. Again, IMHO, Nikon will be releasing additional mirrorless, including the lenses we already know about, but manufacturers can be full of surprises. I'm as anxious for these new advances as anyone else. Please enjoy your stay at UHH.

Sorry if I misled anyone, I thought I was asking a question but maybe I did not ask it in the proper way. I was just asking those that made a comment about the D6 if they might have any further information on an estimated delivery time and to find out more info if anyone knew anything else about it. I do realize that Nikon works on their own time table and in no way was I asking for a definite answer to my question but just a best guess. Then again I do realize that Nikon could just shelve the whole thing and put their resources into the mirrorless market. I do have a Z7 and while it is very nice it just isn't the D850. I have contemplated getting a D5 but if there is the possibility of a D6 I would just as soon wait and use the D850 until they actually come out with the D6. Thank you!

In regard to the D6 - Nikon has been incredibly consistent with their pro release schedule - right before the summer olympics. Happened with the D5, D4, D3, etc. No reason to think it won't happen with the D6. Canon does the same thing and by all accounts Sony is going to announce the a9II sometime in September. So, it would be incredibly unlikely that Nikon would simply skip the D6.

In addition, there have been quite a few rumors about the camera - and yes, I know a rumor isn't a fact - however, some rumors are more reliable than others (like the Z series rumors - everyone knew they were coming months beforehand). I think we'll likely see some kind of announcement - either for the camera or a development announcement by the time CES rolls around this year.

Of course, yes, there is a small chance that Nikon won't do a D6 and the D5 will be the last single digit pro DSLR - but I think that's highly unlikely. I'd wait for CES for sure.

I don't normally but when a Nikon authority like Steve Perry says he would wait for the D6 why would I not believe it or at least ask a curious question about the topic to see if anyone has any other information on it or could at least shed some light on it so to speak. Then again after thinking about it he may have just said that in general thinking at some point Nikon will probably come out with a D6 in the natural evolution of the product or to keep up with the competition. Anyway, sorry if I asked a dumb question or if it was out of place.

Thank you Steve, that was the kind of lucid response I was looking for when I asked my dumb question about the possibility of a D6. Reading this thread was the first time I have ever even heard a rumor of a D6 so I was naturally curious, especially since I have been contemplating getting a D5. Since there is at least a rumor of it I will hold off spending that kind of money on it. Looking forward to seeing you next year in Costa Rica and who knows if Nikon does have a D6 available by that time maybe I will be able to get one to use when I come down to your workshop, so looking forward to it!

Happy to help :)

Here's a few D6 rumors from NR:

With a little luck, we'll both be shooting D6 bodies in CR :)

By the way I meant to mention that I have all of your E-books and they have help me a lot with my digital camera learning. I love your writing style, always easy to understand and entertaining as well as your videos. Thanks again!

Looks like the D6 is actually getting announced sooner than expected, you know, for those who thought I was making stuff up :D

You know we all love ya, but, you are quoting nikon RUMORS. I know you know the definition on RUMOR.
I will say nothing more.
As you have posted earlier, Nikon announces it's flagships very predictively, usually just before a major sporting event.
But, until Nikon does make their announcement, there is NO D6, YET.

IF the development announcement comes next week, and the D6 comes in the first half of next year, my predictions (guess) will also be correct. Like Steve, my guess was also based on Nikon history. We shall see.

Fair enough :) I'll report back on the 4th :)
