Its never a bad idea to have the same model camera for a backup as you have for a main camera, for a MULTITUDE of reasons. Used or refurbs are a good way to lower costs.
The D7200 is pretty low priced right now awaiting it replacement announcement next month.

Should work on cameras made after 2013 check here https://kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm
You don't say what you want to spend, so no specific suggestions. In your shoes, I'd consider looking for a used D 7200 at a good price - mine has been excellent.

Went through the same thing a while back when I sent my D7200 and Tamron 150-600mm G2 to Tamron for tuning. Felt very lonely without my dslr. I went to my local camera shop and ended up with a used D500 with a low shutter count at a good price. I do a lot of birding, so it was a perfect choice for me. Recommend you find a backup more suited to your type of photography. That just might be a spare D7200.

My wife and I both have the D7100. When we did our last body upgrade, we looked at direct comparisons of the 7100 and 7200 models and found that the only real difference is in buffering/continuous shooting speed. That's not very important for us, so we went with the 7100s. If you don't need high shooting speed on your backup, you might take a look at a used one as a backup. Many available with warranty coverage from major sellers.

It this prospective "back-up camera" going to be in your camera bag, or on a shelf at home?

Also check out used D3/D3S and D700 cameras with low shutter counts. Both are full frame, but you can continue to use your DX lenses and they have amazing image quality.

When ever I see a post for "need a back-up camera" it always seems to be for Nikon.
I am thankful that, for ten years, I have stayed with Panasonic. Never any problems, and never felt I needed a back-up.

Most pro's use a BACK UP CAMERA, as, a BACK UP CAMERA in case something happens to their main camera during a professional shoot.
Most Amateur photographers have no need to have a BACK UP CAMERA, because, it is rare indeed that a camera like a Nikon D7200 will actually fail, but, it does happen.
The main reason amateur photographers want a BACK UP CAMERA is because they need to justify the purchase of another camera.
Now, with all that said, when I was a professional photographer, my back up camera took the same lenses and operated the same way as my MAIN CAMERA. Why, because, if I had to go to the back up, it would be a SEAMLESS TRANSITION.
When I owned my Nikon FTN, my first back up was the Nikon F2, then when I sold my Nikon FTN, my back up for the F2 was the F3 HP.
In your case, your best bet would be another D7200. BUT wait, right now Nikon has the Nikon D7500 refurbished at an additional 25% off. So, my personal choice would be the D7500, my back up was always the next one up. OOPS, Nikon just ended that sale, sorry.
So, my choice would still be a refurbished D7200 or D7500, or a Mint used D7200 or D7500 from B&H.
Or Mint in the box with a low shutter count from Ebay.

As a possible back-up camera to your Nikon D7200, you might consider a used Nikon D3300. I have this camera, has performed very well for me for over 2 years now, bought it used, after diligent research.

I'd go with a secondhand (from a reputable company) D500, D7200 or D7500. You already know how good the D7200 is; but may not be aware what a marvellous camera the D500 is.

Same make and model to avoid confusion and learnig new body, and keep a lens on it and use it rather than in the bag. When working, I had a wide on one and a long on the other (before zooms). No time wasted or risk of changing lenses.
