This challenge has proved one thing to me and I hope others will see it as well. Many members on this challenge are showcasing some of there finest work.

WHY ???

Because like everything in life if you give 100% you can do no more, when you are on your own you can do just that but if in a group it maybe fun but you only give 90% because of the distraction and that is not good enough.
Just my view and observation

You hit on a winner with this challenge Jim

P 10 Thank you, Jim, for hosting this marvelous congregation of "loners!" Since I'm now mostly alone in my house, except for trips to various doctors (who apparently think I'll live forever), I look forward to the many photos posted by fellow Hoggers. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all!

Along with my friend solitude, I enjoy local history and so here I was out in wet/muddy shoreline shooting the remains of a dock which was built in 1885. You will notice a chain here, very well secured to the beam. What was its job? Anchorage I'd say as in winter it is solid ice and storms are vicious.

In the second photo those spikes were installed back in 1885. Amazing to see that wood there still yet andmore amazing in the size of the beams, we no longer have trees around here that would be big enough to make these beams

We are in a spot w no WiFi and poor cell service. Am missing internet but relishing quiet, solitude and family. Will have to try catching up next week. Some of my solitude shoots. ( I even figured out how to get the WiFi between camera and phone to work in order to do this!) these were all edited on an iPhone app but taken on my Nikon 750

After the Battle of Bothwell Bridge over 1,000 Scottish Covenanters were imprisoned in an open area adjoining the graveyard of Greyfriar's Kirk in Edinburgh. Two hundred fifty of them were sentenced to exile in the Colonies and were loaded onto the ship, The Crown of London. On 10 December 1679 the ship sank off the Orcadian coast of Deerness, drowning 200 of the prisoners. The remainder were shot as they struggled to shore. The monument to the tragedy is about a mile from the road in this desolate area.

yeah, you have to imagine a little summertime in them... sorry about the snow... it was March...

First looked at these on my quick break at work; #2 is definitely the one even with the little bit of snow; but I must ask what state is this...and a log home is what I've always wanted, in fact a few years back I designed one 24 x 48 wish I had been able to get it built but life throws you curve balls sometimes that you just can't hit, oh well someday I may get my little old shack in the woods...and if not who cares, home is home wherever it may be! Thank you for sharing these wonderful places of solitude.
