Brand new, first hello.

Trying to learn more of photography than simply reading and self-judging my own efforts.
Using only the camera on deactivated Motorola G3, it's all I have. Still a lot to go to reach the 10,000 mark where maybe some consistency of shots that could be keepers may begin.
Photography seems to help deal with the mental strain of being longterm out of work and trying to keep it together and avoid homelessness.

Welcome to UHH Dusty! I'm a newbie too, and there's a wealth of information here from great photographers! Glean all you can, and keep shooting!

Welcome dustie, I too am fairly new to photography and the things I've learned here have helped me gain some insight on making better photos. Principles such as learning how the light affects my shots, following the guidelines of composition and finding how to best use the exposure triangle with each photo. Good luck in your journey into the digital world.

Thanks pmorin.
The benefits of reading from the experienced has helped as I've read through some things here for a while before getting the nerve to register and participate.

Welcome to the UHH. I'm not a nubie to the UHH or digital photography. I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from about getting the nerve to register and participate. UHH is open to anyone and it's totally anonymous; no nerve necessary.
If you really want to learn digital photography, there's a professional photographer and author name of Scott Kelby. He has written numerous books on the subject but, his The Digital Photography Book series are well written, easy to read and very educational. I promise you, if you pick up and read at least the first book in the series, you will learn way, way more about digital photography, at your own pace, than you ever will from this website.
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing a photo.

Thanks for the recommended reading.
The matter of getting up the nerve was not at all pointed at the members in UHH. The dismal failures at my attempts to have the camera record an image somewhat resembling what my vision and mind selectively see, left me with the sense I had no reasonable contribution to make, and did not even know enough to ask proper questions.
I am grateful for having been able to read and view photos in the site, and gain some sense of potential progress available in a pursuit of photography.

Thank you.
Seems it's a reasonable place to reach out with the first tentative efforts of letting some photos be seen by someone besides myself.
Welcome Dustie and Good Luck to you.
